The car was owned by Sunil Agarwal, a firecracker businessman from Saharanpur, who had purchased the vehicle just a few days before on the occasion of Dhanteras festival. According to PTI, Atul, along with six friends, had gone to Dehradun and was the one driving when the accident occurred.
Reports state that Atul’s friend requested a celebration after purchasing a new car. An event was organized by Atul on Monday evening at the residence of Siddhesh Agarwal in Jakhan. Atul then went for a ride with his friend.
CCTV footage showed the MUV driving at a moderate pace through checkpoints before suddenly speeding up right before the Dehradun Accident close to the ONGC intersection. Inspector KC Bhatt, in charge of the investigation, informed Times of India from the Cantt police station. The MUV appeared to be a new vehicle because it did not have any license plates.
Bhatt stated that they were overtaken by a luxury car at high speed, which led the MUV driver to also accelerate in order to catch up. At that moment, a container truck was also going through the intersection at a regular speed, causing the crash.
The MUV driver miscalculated the timing, assuming they could cross the intersection ahead of the oncoming truck traveling from Kishangarh Chowk to Kaulagarh. The police, stated that the fast-moving MUV crashed into the left side of the truck from behind.
During the Dehradun Accident, the car roof shattered, causing two young people’s heads to be detached from their bodies. Bhatt told that because the driver of the MUV, who was the owner of the vehicle, did not survive, legal options are being explored as charges cannot be brought after death.
Vipin Agarwal, the father of Siddhesh, the only survivor in the tragic Dehradun car crash, requested the media to avoid spreading false information and asked society to empathize with the six youths who died in the Dehradun Accident. In an interview with India Today TV, he advised the public not to trust incomplete information about the incident.
Vipin urged the public not to spread inaccurate rumors or half-truths regarding the Dehradun Accident in his public statement.
Encouraging the individuals to display sympathy and understanding, the father mentioned, “We are missing six kids.” The distress of the families of these six children is so profound that we cannot alleviate it. There is a child currently in the ICU who is being supported by a ventilator.
The inquiry is currently underway, and the true facts will be revealed. He urged people not to believe the rumors, as there were numerous claims stating that the group had been partying and were supposedly drunk before the accident.
There is no medical evidence or autopsy results confirming alcohol intake at this time.
Siddhesh’s father’s plea comes amidst numerous conspiracy theories circulating about the Dehradun incident, accusing alcohol consumption and a BMW car involved in a street race.
Rumors related to car crash in Dehradun
A statement being spread on social media about the Dehradun Accident implies that the young people were drinking and partying before getting into the car, which then crashed into a container, leading to the deaths of six out of seven passengers. The video showing a group of people partying supported this statement, though the police have yet to confirm if the victims are featured in the video.
Additionally, there has been no confirmation from any official sources regarding whether the six victims were intoxicated.
HT.com was also unable to confirm the legitimacy of the video on its own.
Another report suggested that the Toyota Innova car engaged in a “street race” with a BMW car along the route. The upscale vehicle overtook the victims’ car, causing the driver’s ego to be bruised and leading him to drive fast. Nevertheless, law enforcement disproved this assertion by reviewing the CCTV footage of the path the young people travelled.
As per the CCTV footage, the Innova MUV was only seen reaching dangerous speeds minutes before the accident occurred.
There was another rumor that claimed the victims were sticking their heads out of the window or a sunroof while the vehicle was speeding, resulting in two of them being decapitated. Nevertheless, there has been no verification of this gossip. It is thought that the head injuries resulted from the significant impact of the collision.
