History of Arshdeep Singh Gill
Arshdeep Singh Gill, a Ludhiana-based 31-year-old notorious gangster, was caught by Canadian police on 10th November. He is originally from Dalla village in Ludhiana, Punjab. He has been a significant figure in the Khalistani movement. Firstly, he was a minor gangster in Moga, Punjab. Dalla is one of the six top gangsters from Punjab, and his criminal activities extend beyond gang wars to radicalization and terror financing. He is also a prime suspect in the 2022 murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik, a key figure in the 1985 Kanishka bombing case.
Dalla has been connected to multiple murders, including the targeted killing of a Dera Sacha Sauda devotee in Punjab. Dalla’s escape to Canada was facilitated by a forged police verification report. He lives in Canada with his wife. In Canada, he came into contact with Khalistan Tiger Force chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar and began collaborating with him.
Because of his involvement in targeted assassinations across the state, terror financing, and extortion, the Indian government designated him a terrorist in January 2023. His terrorist activities have drawn the attention of national security agencies, particularly the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has linked him to multiple offenses involving the cross-border smuggling of firearms, drugs, and terrorist financing.
Rivalry with Bishnoi gang
Arsh Dalla’s network spans Canada, the United States, Dubai, Europe, the Philippines, Thailand, and the Middle East. According to a chargesheet of the NIA, Dalla operates a terror-gangster network in collaboration with Canadian gangster Gaurav Patial, alias Saurav Thakur.
Pakistan’s ISI is thought to be supporting his actions. Dalla also used drones to smuggle weapons from Pakistan into Punjab. Alongside the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, Dalla has also committed acts of terrorism.
He allegedly planned the murder of a young Hindu man in the Jahangir Puri neighbourhood of Delhi. Dalla’s sleeper cell network also sent him a video of the young person being decapitated.
Dalla has a long-standing feud with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with whom his gang has engaged in violent altercations throughout Canada. According to reports, Sukhdul Singh, also known as Sukha Dunike, was a close ally of Dalla who was shot dead by the Bishnoi gang in 2023 after breaking into his Winnipeg house.
Indian youth involvement
According to reports, Dalla has been enticing young people from Punjab and Haryana with promises of help relocating overseas via social media sites. Dalla coerces these recruits into committing acts of terrorism in India.
Dalla is one of the many Punjabi criminals who live in Canada. India has increased pressure on Canadian authorities to turn over Khalistani militants who are planning disturbances in the nation.
